Some random thoughts I've been having about consumption and the environment...
Charlie was talking about Native Americans never making more than they needed because they were nomadic and they would have to carry it to the next place - so what was the point. All the nomadic people I know, the people who move from country to country tend not to be hoarders like me. Hoarding is symptomatic of over-consumption, and over-consumption isn't a comfortable bedfellow with sustainability. Iwas wondering if living a more nomadic life would make me less attached to my stuff, but more importantly help me reduce my consumption? I feel an experiment coming on...
Also, environmental action isn't really about saving the planet, is it? It's not going anywhere really. It's about saving our species. Do you think people would be more likely to take enviromental action if the message was "save our species"? Or "it's really humans that are endangered".
